Lockdown for some has definitely been a stalling factor which has halted many projects. But at Oliver Wild you know we like to have many pies spinning around on many plates! So this weeks blog is to highlight a very exciting project that my business partner Alex Austin (who is over in Canada) and I have successfully launched during these tough times.
For the past few years I've been a podcaster that's put out nearly 200 hours of audio and video content through my brand Grief Burrito. It's a weird name I know and it's suits a very weird show covering gaming and movies each week while interviewing the wonderful creators that bring them to life. But away from my show that's not what I'm here to talk about.
While puzzling over podcasting, advertising and the way that creators are forced to monetize their content using what is called "Distraction Marketing" (think YouTube forcing adverts down your eyestalks every 10mins) I knew that I could come up with a better way. That would prioritize the listener experience while simultaneously allowing the creators we admire to actually be able to make a living from the content they work so damn hard to make.
CephaloPod was born from those thoughts, a completely self contained app that runs as not only a Podcast Aggregator where you can listen to all your favourite shows for FREE but you can also switch seamlessly between Audio and Video versions of the podcasts where available. I wanted to keep it a clean app, make it feel great with UI/UX to use. You can subscribe, you can share your favourite episodes to social media, you can build your own playlists for the week and most importantly... you can purchase bonus and premium content to help fund the shows you love. And, we've got even more features coming soon that is going to make this app even better with even more avenues for creators to monetize their amazing content.
It would mean the world to me if you could download the app, have a play at listening to some podcasts and most of all review the app! It's super hard to build reviews as a new app developer so I'd be super grateful if you can help us.
Our aim now is to replace iTunes & Spotify as peoples predominant podcast listening app as they do nothing to support their regular creators. Unless you're a celebrity with millions of downloads earning them money from the 1950's style outdated distraction marketing they don't want to know. And that's a shame because there are some genuinely amazing small shows out there!
I really hope you like the app and please remember to rate it for me :)

]]>This week started with some hail and rain... and right now it's pretty grey out there! So to make the transition a little easier we've got a full rail of reduced sale jackets if you're looking to keep warm a little longer. So make sure to stop by the shop this week to take advantage of those!
Going forward into Spring weather we've had some amazing new Camel Mac Jackets arrive from Casual Friday too which you'll see this week displayed in our shop window. They're great for keeping that spring breeze off while sticking with a clean look! We've paired it with one of our awesome floral t-shirts and a pair of the new Laundered Flex Denim from Mish Mash to complete the outfit.
Fingers crossed the sun and warm weather come back pretty quickly but until then we can all wrap up, I've personally been pretty happy with my facemask as it's helping keep my face a little warmer! If you're looking for a darker jacket so you facemask doesn't stand out in contrast however the above jacket does also come in a Dark Navy Variant if you're seeking a more business forward look.
Whichever you choose, for only £109.99 you're getting on hell of a jacket! See you soon,
Harrison

Look how nice it is outside! Knutsford is looking beautiful with all the flowers and blooming blossoms and I've seen you all sat on the grass under the blue sky!
With the weather finally warming up we've brought in a great collection of Spring and Summer Tees from Casual Friday to brighten up your T-shirt collection to match the season.
All of the New Collection are super soft cotton, include some really great colours like the great new "Wasabi" below and even some great structured texture Tees!
Wasabi is a great new colour to add to your spring wardrobe if you're looking to continue the darker forest green themes we saw from last season. Matched with a great pair of insanely comfortable Grey Shorts like we see above and a great pair of trainers is a great and simple combo for keeping cool as our Summer comes drifting in.
What are some of your favourite spring combos?
Feel free to let us know below!
Stay cool and safe everyone, Hazz
]]>Most people in Knutsford know that we try to do all we can for the environment, so much so that we’d reached out to many of the brands that supply us not only our wonderful clothing but unfortunately also our biggest supply of plastic waste... this season it’s been insanely refreshing to see that so many brands are using recycled plastic in their packing which we can now recycle again!
As you can see Casual Friday, one of our favourite current brands that have just sent us some stunning New T-Shirts, have made their packing from 100% recycled plastic! This is what we love to see!
It’s something so many more brands and shops are taking into account and I really do hope it’ll translate to all of our great customers. Because really, at the end of the day the Earth will be fine if we continue to ruin the environment... it’s us who’ll suffer. People are the things that are affected. The world will continue spinning in space, we just won’t be stuck to it’s surface drinking beer in the sun.
Scientists have found microplastic particles in everything around us... drinking water, sea salt and even the beer that we’re consuming. The plastic then accumulates in the human body in the lymph nodes and joints, awesome right? So next time someone gives you shit for caring about recycling point out that it’s not just the environment that gets worse... it’s us and even our kids that are eating and drinking the same microplastic. Biodegradable doesn’t mean the plastic goes away after some time either, it just means it breaks down into smaller and smaller fragments. Remember that!
This post isn’t all doom and gloom because like we can see from Our Clothing Range suppliers we are starting to see a shift in the way people go about their days in terms of recycling. Wash out your cans, wash out your (hopefully plastic free) beer bottles and clean off your plastic waste and get that shit recycled. It’s not hard!
Live by the mantra that if something takes less than two minutes to do, do it right away. Same goes for soaking a pan. You’re just being lazy.
Have a great week everyone, see you when you next stop by.

The 12th of April came around quickly! Our first week back in the store was great! It was so nice to see you all return to the town after being locked down for so long. We all needed some spring wardrobe refreshment!
The roadmap set out seems long, but at least now we can focus on life gradually returning to normal as lockdown is eased and more people can begin to venture out of their homes and actually feel safe. Knutsford has done wonders to try and accommodate the bustle that is packed into our slight and quaint streets, I know the dividers have been a headache for many (especially with the parking situation) but it's been a necessary solution to help ease us into a post-lockdown life.
As many of you noticed when you arrived we've made some roadmap goals ourselves and if I'm honest I much prefer the layout of the store now! The shop is now arranged in a much easier flow to ensure that you all feel safe when perusing our amazing menswear deals. We've got a whole new "denim wall" which is currently stocked with reduced men's jeans from only £20 to around £49, we've got a wonderful display space of all our new range with all our latest stock arranged to be seen easily incase you're still feeling uneasy about handling items. And, if that wasn't enough we've got a full new range of denim on the opposite side which you can get to right away incase you've already got the new items in mind!
We'll continue to do all we can to bring you the best men's fashion that we can find while keeping you safe. You can hold it as a promise that we do all we can for you! Because without you all, we wouldn't still be here. So, thank you!
Stay safe guys,
Hazz

You know I was as surprised as you (or as you will be) when I stepped into my first pair of denim jeans that had an early form of stretch. The level of comfort is genuinely surprising if you're used to heavy weight of denim and in comparison they made my old jeans seem like I'd been wearing pants carved from wood.
Over the past few years, obviously since starting Oliver Wild Menswear, I've tried various brands of denim from big labels to small indies and there are definitely a notable few that have stood out to me. However, right now I've got my heart set with Mish Mash and their offshoot brand Lot XX. To the point that I've honestly stopped wearing the rest of the jeans I own save for what I'd call my three pairs of "daily drivers". This in part could be caused by the lockdown which has only steeled my resolve to stick with something more comfortable! Sitting around in my wooden jeans just doesn't cut it!
The wonderful thing about the latest in stretch denim technology comes in the form of FLEX or HYPERFLEX. The fabric itself is a wonderful blend using a core of Elastane surrounded with Cotton allowing the weaved fabric to stretch however the way the latest form of this HyperFlex is formed means that the material will never sag and will always return to shape! Now that is a super important detail that you should be looking for with any stretch denim jeans that you decide to purchase. Even if it isn't from Oliver Wild Menswear! Make sure to ask if the jeans you're buying will keep their shape! There's nothing worse than jeans that sag around your thighs or on the ass. It can turn a pair of your favourite jeans to your least favourite very quickly. And what burns more is the price you'll have paid for them is likely waisted. That and you'll have to wash them more frequently to return them to shape meaning you'll also be doing more washing... not something any of us want in our busy lives!
You know it's strange how opposed some people are to having any form of stretch in their jeans. Maybe it's a fear that it's less masculine to have your legs experience any kind of comfort? You're not a man unless you're struggling right? WRONG. Have comfy legs. Trust me, you'll thank me.
- Mish Mash Flex Laundered - My NEXT Favourite Pair of Jeans
This week our latest denim colours arrived and it's been wonderful to finally stock the shop since the lockdowns began. After how popular the Twilight shade had been I thought we'd continue down that similar vein, however as Spring & Summer 2021 is upon us I thought it'd be nice to incorporate a rich blue tone into our jean selection. With the sun finally rearing it's head the light should pick out the blue and slight whiskering on the front of the jeans perfectly!
